Love Is All We're After
"After reading this book I find it refreshingly different in the fact that Candy finds herself in a whirlwind like so many of us do at times trying to do the right thing and wanting to help without upsetting the balance of lifelong friendship with her best friends who truly need her help, strength and love. The book finds me wanting to read more into the characters lives after it ends. I want to see what happens in everyone’s future. I want Lisa to be happy as well as Mona. Kudos, Andrea’. I love this book and am looking forward to reading more!"

Love Is All We're After
Twists and Turns (4 Stars)
Andrea' Porter's novel, Love is All We're After, is a solid debut from the author. It follows the lives of three women who have been friends since college, Candy, Mona, and Lisa. Each is at different points in their lives romantically and spiritually, but they will soon find out they are more intertwined than they knew.
This novel is advertised as Christian fiction and yes it does discuss religion, but it does not `force' it on you. There were quite a few spelling errors that should have been caught during the editing process. And, I personally thought, the storyline of Mikhail did not deserve their own chapters. He could have been mentioned as side notes within other chapters. Overall, it is a solid debut and a quick read. Tiffany Craig VINE VOICE, Tiffany's Books
Love Is All We're After
True love is all that most of us are after. The movie He's Just Not That Into You is about five women who are seeking Mr. Right, sometimes in the wrong places, but hope in the happily ever after keeps them alive inspite of the lies that they have been sold over the years. Ms. Porter s book is somewhat similar in that there are three African-American women seeking love from their often elusive Black Knights in Shining Armor. Mona, Candy, and Lisa meet in college and have been friends ever since. They are all successful professional women with the right bank accounts and figures to match. They would make any brother sit up and take notice, if only he wasn't so distracted by the next skirt that passes by him. Lisa, a successful attorney is married to her college sweetheart, who Mona is secretly having an affair with. After all she saw him first, and even though he married Lisa, that doesn't mean He doesn't love her or does it? Candy is the sweet one in the bunch who is trying to live a life of celibacy because of her new found faith, but temptation keeps knocking at her door. All this and trying to maintain a friendship takes a toll on their lives. Love is All We're After can easily be the real life script of any sister that s seeking love. Let's bring it on home, there are women in Houston who can step into the pages of this book and not miss a beat. Sex, mystery, intrigue, and lots of drama make this book a good read. Ms. Porter does an excellent job for a first time author in establishing a solid plot and captivating her reader. It is evident that she was growing spiritually in the midst of penning this novel. Most of the book comes from her own personal experiences and pictures her spiritual transition. She had a White Knight in Shining Armor who motivated the book. When the fairy tale didn't come true in her first marriage, rather than allowing the bitterness of a failed union turn into hate, she sought God and redirected that energy into writing her first novel. This single mother of three is currently working on her fourth novel. Talking about a happy ending, perhaps in the sequel our three ladies in waiting will do so also. A girl can still hope can't she? In Search Of Love (5 Stars)
Overcoming relationships is the topic of this gripping Christian Fiction novel. A group of friends must rely on each other and even more on the favor of God as they realize they must put him first in order to make it through the struggles that plague their lives.
I loved the twist of how each friend intertwine with the same man. It made things very realistic and I loved how the character Candy was used to tie everything together. In everything there was a life lesson which I could appreciate. I have to be honest, when it comes to Christian Fiction sometimes I fear that the story line can end up being slow or possibly even end up being a bit preachy however this novel was none of that. It was a swift read and told the story without losing the everyday reader. There were some misspellings that required me to have to re-read certain things over and over. There were some things that left up to the readers personal opinion while why not intended one way could have the reader thinking another. For example I didn't like how some characters seemed to be better than others in some respects. In light of that I would have loved to have more background on some of the characters like Nick, Mikhails and Mona. While there was a lot of detail, a bit more would have been even better. Porter knows DRAMA! Love Is All We're After, is right up there along the lines of Sex In The City. It's intense suspenseful drama! Unexpected turns every so often make this a quick read; the kind where you don't want to put it down because you can't wait to see what happens next. And oooh... is so and so courting a bi racial relationship? Now, I'm not one for erotica, but truth is, Christians are sexual too, right? Remember Mills & Boone, and Barbara Cartland which were extremely popular in their day? Could Porter's style cause a renaissance of sensual romanticism akin to the classics of yesteryear? Personally, I can't wait for the sequel, Second Chance at Love. But, if I were Porter, I would insist on a refund from my editor.

Love Is All We're After
Inspriation for true & holy Christian love...just as love should be!
Wow, Andrea' Porter mixed Chaka Kahn's "I'm Every Woman" with spiritual guidance from the Bible! I saw/read myself in so many ways reading this book! The characters are so realistic & experience the many situations single women encounter. However, with God in the mix...the plot thickens! Serious decisions, committments & sincere determination to follow a spiritual path & life style for those seeking a closer relationship with God ALWAYS pays off for it is His will for us! I'm not giving any details; just READ THIS BOOK & let the lives of Candy, Mona & Lisa inspire you to know that true Christian love does exist & it is always here when we place our trust in God!

Second Chance At Love
Awesome story of another chance at LOVE
(5 Stars)
This story of friends relating and having a second chance at love captivated me. Often after failed relationships/marriages we often want to give up but this book showed how Love can be restored and revived if we give it a chance. Andrea Porter has a way of making the story come alive and making you experience situations that the characters are going through. You won't want to put it down until you finish it. Thanks Andrea for a Second Chance at Love. Can't wait til the third book in the series. -Ms. Rae
To Hell With Love
This book is for someone who is having problems in there relationships. Its good for someone who doesn't know my God. See this book proves the fact that God can fix anything. It shows that even when things are bad and you feel like giving up there is still light at the end of the tunnel. Rather its in your relationship or just life itself. The title states to Hell with Love but in the book the character has a change of heart. - Alana Braggs
Love Is All We're After & Second Chance At Love
The first book, Love is All We’re After, was a delightful insight into a very real scenario that sometimes plagues the day to day lives of dating/marital issues. The storyline introduced was pragmatic in our world of emotions and feelings and furthermore, I feel is what draws the audience in. The almost seemingly transparency of the characters and the forgiveness or yet, the drive to press on in their personal quest despite the calamity in which they have faced leaves you craving to find out where their paths have taken them. This book was an excellent read and I would recommend it be a part of anyone’s collection of reading material.
I was excited to delve into Andrea’s second composition, Second Chance at Love; a continuation of the first novel. Here, we see how the characters have evolved and mended their past issues, even going on to find love again. One truth that I have come to realize in my own life due to personal experiences and the reading of Andrea’s material is that every soul on the face of this Earth has an appointed destiny and purpose. There is nothing that happens by mistake, every portion of space that you occupy at every nano- second is exactly where you are supposed to be. I digressed into a bit of a personal side bar. I can’t wait to pick up the next reading, which is sure to be just as captivating as her previous manuscripts. - Cemal Eberhart

Finding Love in Unusual Places (2 Stars)
"Love Is All We're After" is the story of three friends who are searching for love. After a series of failed relationships, Candy has turned her life over to the Lord. Because of this change, she is now finding it difficult to meet compatible men. She soon learns, however, that compatible men come in all colors. Next up is Lisa. From the outside, it appears that Lisa has it all: handsome husband, beautiful home, successful career. The reader soon learns that Lisa's life is far from perfect. Finally, there's Mona. Mona is in love...with a married man. Mona is also keeping secrets.
Porter's novel is just an okay read. The plot is unoriginal and so are the characters. I wanted to like the book but there is just too much superficiality. That, coupled with the poor editing of the book, made this an extremely challenging book to read.Love may have been all the characters were after but a good story is what this reviewer was after. However, this book failed to deliver. - OOSA Online Book Club
